The city center of Hoorn is the shopping heart of West Friesland. In addition, there are many other facilities, institutions and events that make thousands of people want to go to the city center. Short-stay visitors can park close to their destination. People who want to stay longer in the city can park their car in one of the parking lots on the edge of the city center. Hoorn has a parking system of long, medium and short term parking. In addition, there are special facilities and permits for inner-city residents, business stakeholders and the disabled.
Long-term parking is possible at the Transferium, the Pelmolenpad, the RAC location (Johan Messchaertstraat) and at the rear of the Visserseiland.
Medium-term parking is longer than 2 hours, but not all day parking. This is best done at the Westerdijk, the Lambert Meliszweg, the Vale Hen and the Noorderveemarkt. The Jeudje and Park car parks are also good places for your car in this case.
Short-term parking (maximum 2 hours) is possible at the Veemarkt, the Gouw, the Gedempte Turfhaven and the Breed, so in the immediate vicinity of the shops.
Hoorn has some blue zones. You must use a parking disc to park here. You can buy these for € 1.00 at the Information desk in the town hall and at the Stadstoezicht office on the Nieuwe Wal. Also at some tobacconists and magazine shops.
The parking garages ‘t Jeudje and Schouwburg Het Park can be used free of charge until 12 o’clock in the morning. The parking garages in question are only a few hundred meters from the center. On shopping Sundays there are several parking spaces in the city center where you can park for free. See the instructions on site for this.
